Thunder vs. Mavericks live updates: NBA playoffs scores, highlights as top-seeded OKC aims for 2-0 series lead

The second round of the 2024 NBA playoffs continues on Thursday night, as the Oklahoma City Thunder and Dallas Mavericks collide in Game 2 of their second-round series at the Paycom Center. In Game 1 on Tuesday, the Mavericks managed to stay within striking distance of the Thunder for three quarters, until Shai Gilgeous-Alexander took over. He finished with 29 points, Chet Holmgren tacked on 19 of his own, and OKC got impressive contributions from Aaron Wiggins and Jaylin Williams off the bench.

Mavericks’ Luka Doncic, who looks to be hampered by a knee injury, was just 6-for-19 from the floor and 1-for-8 from beyond the 3-point arc in Game 1. OKC defensive specialist Lu Dort has been assigned to Doncic, who is just 17-for-75 (22.7 percent) from beyond the arc in seven playoff games this year.

“He had some good looks from the 3-point line, so we’ve got to help him out,” Mavericks coach Jason Kidd said. “We have to get Dort off of [Doncic] a little bit better.

Kyrie Irving led the Mavericks with 20 points on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Thunder had 29 assists, their most in a playoff game since the franchise has been in Oklahoma City.
