Mercedes-Benz launches 2024 Maybach GLS 600 and AMG S63 E Performance in India


German luxury vehicle manufacturer Mercedes-Benz, on Wednesday, launched two new vehicles – the 2024 Mercedes Maybach GLS 600 facelift and the Mercedes AMG S63 E Performance – in India.

Santosh Iyer, Managing Director & CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, in a company statement, said, “The new Mercedes-AMG S 63 E PERFORMANCE in an exclusive ‘Edition 1’, is the most powerful S-Class ever, a consummate blend of luxury, comfort, and brute strength. It combines unbridled performance with innovative technology and unsurpassed luxury, making AMG S 63 E Performance Edition 1, a coveted performance vehicle in its most luxurious form.”

The Mercedes AMG S63 E Performance, a high-performance luxury sedan, is introduced at ₹3.30 crore (Ex-showroom). For an additional ₹50 lakh, buyers can opt for the limited Edition 1, featuring Manufaktur Alpine Grey paint, matte black 21-inch forged AMG wheels, red brake callipers, and AMG Night and Exclusive packages.

The 2024 Mercedes Maybach GLS 600, known as the S-Class of SUVs, has received a slight facelift. It features a revised grille and bumpers, new LED tail light design, Maybach-specific tailpipes, and a Maybach logo.

As per Iyer, “The TEV segment remains buoyant, fuelled by demand and unwavering customer loyalty, comprising 25% of Mercedes-Benz sales in India. The customer preference for TEV reiterates the growing popularity for exclusive top-end luxury vehicles such as the GLS, Mercedes-Maybach, and AMG range.”

The 2024 Mercedes Maybach GLS 600’s standard colour options include Polar White, Silver Metallic, and Black, with optional dual-tone paint schemes. The vehicle comes with 22-inch wheels, with an option for 23-inch mono-block wheels.

Rear passengers enjoy luxury features like seat ventilation, massage functions, power extendable leg rests, 43.5-degree power reclining seats, a tablet on the rear armrest, dual 11.6-inch rear entertainment screens, a 590W Burmester audio system, and Maybach-specific ambient lighting.

The vehicle also includes GUARD 360° laminated burglary-resistant safety glass, an Acoustic Comfort package, an upgraded parking system, new steering wheel design, the latest MBUX UI, improved telematics, and revised AC vents.

Powered by a hand-built 4.0L twin-turbo V8 motor, the GLS 600 produces 557 bhp and 770 Nm of torque, with an additional 22 bhp and 250 Nm from a 48V ISG. The total system power is managed by a 9-speed automatic gearbox, reaching 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h. The 2024 Mercedes Maybach GLS 600 is priced at ₹3.35 crore (Ex-showroom).

Mercedes AMG S63 E Performance

The S63 E Performance includes a new grille with vertical slats, a sportier bumper, an AMG rear diffuser, quad tailpipes, standard 20-inch alloys, optional 21-inchers, and AMG-specific styling cues.

Inside, it boasts a new AMG steering wheel and pedals, AMG graphics in MBUX software, quad-zone climate control, a Burmester 3D sound system, executive seats, a rear seat entertainment package, a removable tablet, folding tables, Nappa leather upholstery, and a 12.8-inch OLED infotainment screen with a waterfall effect.

The AMG S63 E Performance is powered by a twin-turbo 4.0L V8 motor combined with a 13.1 kWh battery and an electric motor, producing a total of 802 bhp and 1,430 Nm of torque. The electric motor alone contributes 190 bhp and 320 Nm.

Power is distributed through a 9-speed automatic gearbox. The car features 7 AMG driving modes, adaptive air suspension, active roll bars, rear wheel steering, and optional ceramic brakes. It can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and offers a pure electric range of 33 km.
